Child Counseling
Children under 10 have unique counseling needs. Play offers children a non-threatening way to express difficult and often confusing emotions. Through therapy I will focus on a child’s strengths to meet his or her individual needs.
Teen Counseling
Adolescents and young adults often resist traditional therapy. My counseling approach combines traditional talk therapy with interactive therapy techniques such as art, sand tray, games, and other tools.
Family Counseling
Parents often have difficulty understanding how their child or teen is feeling. Working together in counseling to help the parent better understand and communicate with their child is essential in helping them work through developmental changes.
About Stephanie Legendre, MA, LPC-S, RPT
Parenting children and adolescents can be a difficult job that can leave us feeling overwhelmed. I am dedicated to offering a safe environment for children, adolescents, and parents to work through those challenges.
Through counseling and play therapy, I am committed to enhancing the lives of children and adolescents by focusing on their strengths to meet their individual needs. Additionally, I specialize in counseling for parenting skills, survivors of abuse/trauma, anger, anxiety, behavioral and school challenges.
Parenting, trauma, post-partum depression, anxiety, and abuse are included in the various issues addressed with adult clients. She is certified in Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), a well-known therapeutic model that addresses depression, grief, and relationship issues and facilitates the modification of interpersonal skills. Her EMDR training also enhances her work with adults as well as children struggling with traumatic experiences. Additionally, Stephanie uses meditation and mindfulness in her work with adults and teens.
